Aluminum gaskets

 

Aluminum gasket, as a type of solid gasket, is a common sealing material widely used in fields such as sealing parts of pressure vessels, valves, cylinder heads, as well as industries such as automobiles, railway locomotives, ships, steel mills, mines, power plants, chemical equipment, and engineering machinery.. It is mainly made of aluminum material, used to fill the gaps in the joint area to achieve a sealing effect.

High quality aluminum gaskets have the characteristics of good toughness, corrosion resistance, and excellent thermal conductivity. At normal working temperature, aluminum gaskets can ensure the reliability and airtightness of the seal. However, as the working temperature increases, the performance of the sealing material will also be affected.

 

 

Performance of aluminum gaskets

 

1. Upper limit of high temperature resistance

Under normal circumstances, the usage temperature of aluminum gaskets is generally below 150 ℃. When the temperature exceeds this range, the material properties will undergo significant changes, and the sealing effect cannot be guaranteed. At the same time, the high-temperature strength and stiffness of aluminum gaskets will also decrease, leading to easier deformation and fracture of the material.

 

2. Application scope

Aluminum gaskets are commonly used for sealing gases and liquids, with a wide range of applications and can be used at some room or slightly higher temperatures. But in some special occasions, such as the engine hood and other hot working areas, it is necessary to use sealing materials with a higher temperature range to ensure the effectiveness of the seal.

 

3. Service life

The service life of aluminum gaskets under normal conditions can reach several years or more, but when used in high-temperature environments, the service life will be greatly shortened, generally not exceeding dozens of hours.

1. Copper gasket

 

Copper gaskets are widely used in electronic components, communication equipment, electric motors, generators, and other fields due to their good thermal conductivity and conductivity. Copper gaskets have good plasticity and corrosion resistance, suitable for high temperature and high pressure environments. The commonly used copper gasket has a thickness of 0.2-0.3mm, an inner diameter of 3.18-12.7mm, and an outer diameter of 0.375-1inch.

 

2. Stainless steel gasket

 

Stainless steel gaskets have excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance, and are suitable for fields such as chemical, aviation, and food processing. The commonly used thickness for stainless steel gaskets is 0.3mm, and the range of inner and outer diameters is similar to that of copper gaskets.

 

3. Aluminum gasket

 

Aluminum gaskets are widely used in the fields of heat dissipation and insulation due to their lightweight and thermal conductivity. Aluminum gaskets are cheaper compared to copper gaskets and stainless steel gaskets, but have poor corrosion resistance. The commonly used thickness is 0.5mm, and the range of inner and outer diameters is similar to that of copper gaskets.
